Nadal king of the world

Rafael Nadal is officially the world's number one tennis player after he dethroned Roger Federer from the coveted top spot. The Spaniard put the cherry on top of the cake when he won the gold medal for tennis at the Olympics.

The next step for Nadal is the US Open which will take place on the 25th of August. The Spaniard is the top seed at the event, however he will face stiff competition as Roger Federer is the four time defending champions and close rival Novak Djokovic was runner up at last years event. If Nadal is successful in his quest for the US Open, he will be the first man to win, The French Open, Wimbledon and The US Open since Rod Laver in 1969.

A player like Nadal does not come along very often, his sheer brilliance when making a shot is wonderful to watch and I am sure he is destined for more greatness.
